DAOU property in SLO purchased by local names. What’s in store for the facility?

Published June 2026

We were honored to be featured by The San Luis Obispo Tribune following our acquisition of the former Baileyana Winery production facility in Edna Valley. The article highlighted the partnership between Jason Fullmer and Josh Baker and the vision behind building Mercenary Premier as a dedicated custom crush, winemaking, and packaging operation in San Luis Obispo County.

The story explores what makes Mercenary Premier different: an operator-led business focused exclusively on supporting other brands. Rather than producing our own label or operating a tasting room, our mission is to provide custom crush, bottling, canning, and winemaking services for wineries and beverage companies throughout the Central Coast and beyond.

The article also notes the scale of the Edna Valley facility, which includes more than 43,000 square feet of production space and will be fully operational for the 2026 harvest. For us, the investment represents more than growth—it reflects our long-term commitment to the Central Coast wine industry and to building a business rooted in local relationships, technical expertise, and flexible production solutions.

As Josh shared with The Tribune, Mercenary Premier was created by combining decades of winemaking experience with a shared belief that independent brands deserve a dedicated production partner. We are proud to continue investing in Edna Valley and look forward to helping wineries and beverage producers bring exceptional products to market.
